Environmental Policy

We believe that each person should strive to have as little impact on the natural environment as possible. To this end we have adopted certain principles that we hope guests can agree with. None will affect the quality of your stay with us.

We encourage guests to use public transport.

Discounts on accommodation (subject to conditions) are available to walkers, cyclists and those arriving by public transport.

We source as many products locally as possible.

We use local suppliers and where products are not produced locally we try to ensure that food miles are minimised.

We do not use resource wasteful products.

Where possible we avoid the use of wastefully

packaged individual consumables such as

shower gels and shampoos.

We use energy saving devices.

Low voltage light bulbs are fitted and 'A' rated

appliances are used where possible.

We recycle waste materials

Paper, metal and glass containers and food waste

are sent for re-cycling to minimise landfill.

We deal with ethically aware companies

Wherever possible we deal with companies that

treat their employees and suppliers fairly.

Ethical Trading and Value for Money

In line with our environmental policy, and to keep our prices as reasonable as possible, we have made a decision not to provide, whether needed or not, some of the extras that would count towards a four diamond rating.

These items include:

Single use bottles of shower gel, shampoo and

handwash. Multi-use dispensers are provided.

Shoe cleaning equipment. Available, please ask.

Bottled water. All water is direct mains fed. The tap

water comes from Wharfedale and is perfectly safe

and very pleasant to drink. One litre bottles of

mineral water are available.

Hair dryer. Available on request.

Iron and ironing board, trouser press. We will be happy to iron any creased items that you may want to wear for a special occasion.

Sewing kits. Needles, cottons, repair tape etc. are available should you need them.

We will provide, without compromising on quality: clean rooms, professionally laundered all-cotton linen and towels, hot showers, comfortable beds and excellent meals prepared daily from fresh produce of local provenance where possible.
