Activities
Guided Walks
This area has a wealth of footpaths, bridleways and tracks allowing walks to suit all tastes and abilities. If you are new to walking you may be unsure about being able to find your way. We can lead walks for you, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and hopefully, the weather.
The cost is £70 for a full day or £40 for half a day. Maximum group size is 10 people. Prior booking essential.
Map Reading
If you want to explore the countryside, but worry about getting lost, then the ability to read a map and use a compass is essential.
Out two day course, covering basic theory and practice, will give you the confidence to plan a walk, estimate the time needed for its completion and recognise features along the route.
The cost is £150 and the maximum group size is ten. You will need to provide your own protractor compass.

Indoor Games
On the rare occasion that rain might prevent you from enjoying the beauty of the scenery hereabouts, or if you have energy to spare in the evening, then we have a selection of board games in the lounge for our guests to make use of.
Chess, Draughts, Backgammon, Ludo, Pelmanism, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuits and many more games are there for you to enjoy.

Quiz Nights
For quiz addicts there is a quiz in he Wheatsheaf Inn on Thursday at around 9pm and also in Ingleboro Working Men's Club (also known as the 'Top Club') on Sunday evenings (not summer) at 8pm also featuring "Play the Cards Right" for what can sometimes be a considerable cash sum.

Fishing
Fishing is available in the local rivers at locations where the Ingleton Angling Association have rights. Day tickets are available from the Village Newsagency.
There are also fishing ponds near Low Bentham and Helwith Bridge

Horse Riding
See the Dales from a different perspective on the back of a pony or horse. All ages and abilities can be catered for and rides range from 1 hour to 5 day treks. You can explore classic limestone country around Malham - telephone Angela or Zana Jackson at the Yorkshire Dales Trekking Centre on 01729 710242.

Pottery
Ingleton's own potter, Dick Unsworth, will, by arrangement, be pleased to show you round the pottery. If after a visit you feel the urge to transform a lump of clay into a priceless work of art, then why not join one of Dick's pottery courses. These run at various times between October and April.

Swimming
Ingleton has its own heated outdoor swimming pool, which visitors can use. Its open from the end of May to the end of August at the following times:
Weekdays: 4.30-7pm & 2-4pm in school holidays.
Weekends: 10-12pm, 2-4pm and 4.30-7pm.
There are also pools in Settle and Hornby.

Climbing
The limestone outcrops of the Dales provide the experienced climber with plenty of opportunities and the southern and eastern Lake District provide further possibilities within easy travelling distance.
Ingleton has its own world class climbing wall and day tickets are available from Inglesport. Some equipment can be hired.

Caving
Explore the subterranean world beyond show caves where no natural light has ever shone.
If you are fascinated by the underground systems carved out by the force of water and would like to see a different type of scenery, then why not book a trip down one of the local potholes.
Accompanied by experienced cavers, you will have approximately 3 hours underground and will learn the basic manoeuvres and have an introduction to ropework.
Clothing, safety equipment and lighting will be provided.
Prior booking is essential.

Mountain Biking
The Yorkshire Dales and surrounding areas have a wealth of minor roads,
ancient trackways, drove roads and bridleways that will provide outings,
rarely easy, frequently challenging, to places not accessible by car.
The Yorkshire Dales cycleway passes through Ingleton and a booklet is available from the Tourist Information Centre.

Country Lanes at Dalesbridge Activity Centre (015242 51789) has a variety of bike, trailers and accessories for hire.  Off The Rails at Settle Station also has hire bikes - phone 01729 824439.

Please remember that footpaths are not open to cyclists.

Bowling
The bowling green in Ingleton welcomes visiting players.
The cost is £1 per session and bowls can be hired for 50p

Falconry
See the magnificent flying display of hawks and falcons at the Yorkshire Dales Falconry Centre. Better still, why not book a session where you will be able to fly birds from your own hand.

Vintage Railways
Trains hauled by vintage steam and diesel locomotives operate over various lines in the area. Kingfisher Tours operate on the Settle to Carlisle and Leeds - Morecambe routes.
Restored private lines operating regular services are: Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, Keighley and Worth Valley Railway and The East Lancashire Railway.
The National Railway Museum in York occasionally runs tours.
The tearoom at Carnforth station - made famous for the film "Brief Encounter" - has recently been restored.
